The Left’s Latest Scheme: Using Our Nation’s Youth to Pass Controversial Policies

It’s no secret that Democrats have been pushing for years to lower the voting age, and this week was no different. According to Fox News Digital, House Democrats, led by New York’s own Grace Meng, proposed an amendment to the Constitution to allow 16-year-olds to vote.

On the surface, this may seem like a harmless idea, but when you dig deeper, it’s clear that this is nothing more than a ploy to push through left-leaning policies like gun control and pro-environmental measures.

Meng stated in a statement that “our young people, including 16- and 17-year-olds, continue to fight and advocate for so many issues that they are passionate about from gun safety to the climate crisis.”

But what Meng and her Democratic colleagues are forgetting is that these young people are still children. They are not fully developed emotionally or cognitively and are not capable of making informed decisions about the issues that will impact their lives and the future of our country.

Furthermore, it’s no secret that the groups that are supporting this proposal are doing so because they believe it will help advance their left-leaning causes. Vote16USA, for example, has a message on its website that says “Lower the voting age, the planet depends on it.”

It’s clear that this proposal is nothing more than a desperate attempt by Democrats to stack the deck in their favor and push through policies that would not be supported by the majority of Americans. They are trying to use our nation’s youth as pawns in their political games, and it’s shameful.

This latest proposal to amend the Constitution was cosponsored by 11 House Democrats, including Squad members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

It’s no surprise that these far-left politicians are supporting this idea, as they have been pushing for radical changes to our country for years.

But let’s be clear: amending the Constitution is not something to be taken lightly. It requires a two-thirds vote in the House and Senate, and then ratification by three-fourths of state legislatures.

This proposal stands no chance of passing, and it’s time for Democrats to stop wasting time and resources on this frivolous idea and start focusing on issues that truly matter to the American people.

The bottom line is this: Democrats should stop using our nation’s youth as pawns in their political games. The right to vote is a privilege, not a right, and it should be reserved for those who are capable of making informed decisions about the future of our country.
