New York City on Brink of Financial Collapse Due to Migrant Crisis, Internal Documents Reveal

The Biden administration’s dangerous disregard for our nation’s borders is now hitting New York City taxpayers where it hurts – their wallets. Internal City Hall documents reveal that the spiraling migrant crisis could cost the city an estimated $4.2 billion by the middle of next year, more than doubling Mayor Eric Adams’ initial worst-case scenario.

It’s no secret that Democrats have a soft spot for illegal immigration, but their misguided policies have consequences. The New York Post reported, Governor Kathy Hochul’s plan to give the city $1 billion in migrant aid over two years would only cover less than 30% of the shelter costs. The Office of Management and Budget also warned that Hochul’s proposed budget would slash overall state aid to the city, putting additional strain on taxpayers.

In a shocking display of fiscal irresponsibility, Mayor Adams failed to account for the anticipated recurring costs of the migrant crisis in his record $102.7 billion budget proposal. Instead, City Hall plans to spend a staggering $1.4 billion on migrants in fiscal 2023 and $2.8 billion in fiscal 2024, a total of $4.2 billion.

This crisis is not just a financial burden, but a threat to public safety. The city has been paying for bus tickets to transport migrants to upstate New York, where they then travel north and illegally cross into Canada. This dangerous cycle of disregard for our laws must come to an end.

The federal government, led by President Biden, has so far allocated less than $8 million of the $1 billion Adams requested, leaving the majority of the burden on hardworking American taxpayers. It’s time for the Biden administration to step up and secure our borders, rather than passing the buck to American cities and putting our communities at risk.

It’s time for passionate Republican voters to stand up and say enough is enough. Democrats’ support for illegal immigration may play well with their base, but it’s not what’s best for our country. We must prioritize the safety and financial stability of American citizens, not the desires of illegal immigrants seeking better opportunities in our nation.
