Attention, fellow conservatives! The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Jason Smith (R-MO), is raising eyebrows and red flags about the potential foreign funding of the Penn Biden Center, a think tank affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania.
This investigation comes amidst concerns about the relationship between the two entities and whether foreign money may have been funneled into the center, despite its claims of not accepting any contributions or gifts.
In a letter co-signed by Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC), Smith points out that the timing of the center’s creation and an increase in foreign investment at the university seem to coincide with members of President Biden’s family seeking business opportunities in China. Are the Bidens cashing in on foreign connections?
The letter demands answers about the legal relationship between the university and the center, as well as the percentage of the center’s annual expenses covered by the university. It also inquires about the university’s investments in three “adversarial entities” on U.S. government restricted lists.
Last year, the University of Pennsylvania admitted to having investments in entities on those lists. Now, Smith’s letter asks the university to identify those entities and disclose any investments in the six Chinese entities added to the restricted lists after the U.S. shot down a Chinese spy balloon this year.
Let’s not forget that Joe Biden was paid nearly $900,000 during his two-year tenure at the Penn Biden Center before his 2020 presidential run. Are China or other foreign nations signing Biden’s checks?
Adding to the intrigue, the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., faced public scrutiny when classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president were found in a locked closet there. The files were discovered in November but not revealed until early January.
The GOP letter also questions the university’s lack of effort to divest from its questionable holdings, stating, “In addition, the University’s June 23, 2022, response did not indicate any plans to divest, nor did it identify the entities that held such investments.”
Republicans are demanding a response from university officials by March 28. They want a clear outline of any efforts to divest from concerning investments and more information on the legal relationship between the think tank and the Ivy League school.
So, my fellow Republicans, are we witnessing yet another Biden scandal? Keep a close eye on this developing story, as the truth is bound to come out eventually!
