Avril Lavigne is known for her punk rock attitude, and she showed it off on Monday night at the 2023 Juno Awards. While introducing performer AP Dhillon, Lavigne was interrupted by a topless protester who walked up and down the catwalk. Lavigne tried to ignore the protester until security stepped in to escort the woman offstage. But Lavigne had a message for the protester before she left.
“Get the f— off,” Lavigne told the protester. “Get the f— off, b–ch.”

Social media users and viewers cheered Lavigne’s bold response, with many praising her for not backing down. Even some journalists and reporters had to give her credit.
Avril Lavigne DESTROYS woke protester by telling her to ‘get the f*ck’ off her stage,” tweeted journalist Mark Slapinski.
“Avril Lavigne for the win. It’s not complicated,” wrote Rupa Subramanya, a writer for The Free Press.
Lavigne’s fans were also quick to show their support. Guitarist Devin Bronson praised Lavigne for handling the situation like a pro. Singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards even tweeted that she became an Avril Lavigne fan after the incident.
The protester had several statements written on her body, including “Stop logging old growth now,” “land back,” and “Save the Greenblatt.” Lavigne later referenced the protestor in her tweet after the awards show, thanking her fans for voting for her and saying, “Let’s keep rocking and cheers to the next 20 years! P.S. – ‘Get the f*ck off **tch!”
Lavigne’s attitude is a reminder that sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in and not let anyone interrupt or distract you. As Republicans, we can appreciate Lavigne’s willingness to take a stand and fight for her beliefs. It’s time we take a page out of her book and stand up for what we believe in, no matter who tries to interrupt us.
