A new poll conducted by CNN shows that a majority of Americans approve of the decision to indict former President Donald Trump. The poll asked respondents if they approved or disapproved of the indictment by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and 60 percent expressed approval, while 40 percent expressed disapproval.
While most Americans support the indictment, the poll also found that 75 percent of respondents believe politics played at least some role in the decision to indict Trump, including 52 percent who said it played a major role.
Independents largely support the indictment, with 62 percent approving of it, while Democrats are nearly unanimous in their support (94 percent).
Republicans are less unified in their opposition to the indictment, with 79 percent disapproving, including 54 percent who strongly disapprove.
Despite the support for the indictment, many believe that politics played a role in the decision, which could be a cause for concern in the legal system.
