Trump says he ‘knew nothing about’ white supremacist Nick Fuentes before Mar-a-Lago event

Before dining with musician Ye, then known as Kanye West, at Mar-a-Lago, former president Donald Trump claimed to have “knowing nothing” about white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

After Axios revealed that Mr. Fuentes and Ye had dinner with Mr. Trump at his Palm Beach, Florida mansion, the former president sent a statement via his social media site Truth Social.

He remarked, “Kanye West phoned me last week to eat dinner at Mar-a-Lago. “Shortly after, he appeared unannounced with three of his pals, whom I had no prior knowledge of. On Tuesday night, several members joined us for dinner on the back patio. Dinner went by quickly and without incident. After that, they headed to the airport.

Mr. Fuentes is a well-known Holocaust denier, white supremacist, and anti-Semite. Additionally, Ye’s commercial relationships with Balenciaga and Adidas ended as a result of his antisemitic remarks.

Ye teased his intention to run for president in 2024 in a video he shared on Twitter on Thursday night about his meeting with the former president at Mar-a-Lago.

Ye is heard saying, “So Trump is really impressed with Nick Fuentes. And unlike so many of the lawyers of so many people that he was left with on his 2020 campaign, Nick Fuentes is actually a loyalist.”

Ye questioned why Mr. Trump did not “release” any of the protesters that broke out on January 6 at the US Capitol. Additionally, he urged that Mr. Trump rehire Corey Lewandowski, his former campaign manager.

Bringing up figures like Roger Stone and Alex Jones at the time, he said, “And I came to him as someone who loves Trump, and I said, ‘Go and get Cory back, go and get these people that the media tried to cancel and told you to step away from. Mr. Trump allegedly responded by agreeing with Ye in his address.

“He basically gives me this would-be mob-esque kind of story, talking to some kid from the Southside of Chicago trying to sound mobby or whatever,” he said. Similarly, Ye discussed how Mr Trump helped get Alice Marie Johnson out of prison. Ye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian repeatedly appealed to Mr Trump to do so.

“He goes into the story about all that he went through to get Alice Johnson out of jail and how he didn’t do it for Kim, but he did it for me,” Ye said in the video. “But then he goes on to say that, ‘Kim is a ****, you can tell her I said that’ and I was thinking like, ‘that’s the mother of my children.’”

The meeting takes place after Mr. Trump declared his intention to run for president again in

2024. However, many Republicans are now weary of him after many of the candidates he backed in the 2022 midterm elections lost their contests.
