At the National Action Network convention, Vice President Kamala Harris praised Al Sharpton as the “conscience of our country.” Despite accusations of antisemitism and race-baiting, Sharpton remains a Democratic Party booster and adviser.
Critics have alleged that Sharpton has a decades-long history of antisemitic rhetoric and has inflamed the racial divide in the country. Recently, the antisemitism watchdog organization StopAntisemitism slammed Sharpton for his history of promoting these destructive behaviors.
While some may see Harris’s praise of Sharpton as a positive reflection of the Democratic Party, Republicans must hold our leaders accountable for their words and actions. We must reject those who engage in hatred and division and work towards promoting unity and understanding.
