It’s a classic tale of liberal greed and corruption – a former lawyer and top Democrat donor, Tom Girardi, has been indicted by federal grand juries on multiple counts of wire fraud and embezzlement.
The Justice Department announced on Wednesday that Girardi, 83, was charged in Los Angeles with five counts of wire fraud, which could result in a maximum 20-year federal prison sentence, and in Chicago with eight counts of wire fraud and four counts of contempt of court.
Girardi, once one of LA’s most prominent lawyers, had cultivated close ties with powerful Democratic politicians at all levels of government, including President Biden, through large donations and lavish fundraisers.
Over the last decade, he and his estranged wife, reality TV star Erika Jayne, gave more than $2 million to the national Democratic Party and individual candidates.
But Girardi’s deep pockets and status as both a celebrity and high-powered attorney gave him more than just access to Democrats, it also led to a life of excess, which has now come crashing down.
He allegedly embezzled more than $18 million from legal clients, using the funds to cover his law firm’s payroll and personal expenses. And to make matters worse, Girardi and his former CFO have been accused of stealing more than $3 million in settlement funds meant for family members of those who died in a Boeing plane crash.
This is a sad and disgraceful end to the career of a man who once had so much political influence, thanks to his close ties to the Democrats. And it’s not just Girardi who is implicated in this scandal, several prominent Democrats, including President Biden, have received large donations from Girardi and are now facing questions about their own ethics and judgment.
The indictment serves as a stark reminder of the corruption and greed that plagues the liberal elite and the Democratic Party. It’s time for Americans to demand accountability and transparency from their elected officials and to reject the kind of greed and corruption that has come to define the Democrats.
It’s time for a change, and it starts with electing Republicans who put the interests of the American people first, not their own personal gain. As the saying goes, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and the indictment of Tom Girardi is just the tip of the iceberg. The Democrats must be held accountable for the corruption within their own ranks.
