It’s no surprise that the Biden Administration is once again siding with the government bureaucracy over hardworking American taxpayers. Yesterday, the White House announced its plan to veto a bill passed by the Republican majority House that aims to claw back $72 billion in funds used to hire thousands of new IRS staff over the next decade.
Last year, the Democrats in Congress approved $80 billion in new funding for the IRS as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, which President Biden signed into law. But now, Republicans are taking action to take back most of this money, a move the White House claims is about “protecting wealthy tax cheats.”
Nothing could be further from the truth. House Republicans are fighting to protect middle-class families and small businesses from the burdensome, bureaucratic IRS that has consistently overstepped its bounds.
The Democrats want to fund this government agency with billions of dollars, so it can hire even more staff to harass and target the very people they claim to be helping.
This move by House Republicans is about cutting wasteful spending and reigning in the power of the IRS. It’s about allowing corporations and wealthy Americans the opportunity to keep more of their own money and invest in job creation and economic growth.
Contrast this to the Democrats’ agenda. They continue to push for tax hikes and increased regulations that stifle economic growth and hurt middle-class families. The Biden Administration’s veto threat is just another example of their misplaced priorities.
It’s time for the Democrats to stop siding with bureaucrats and start putting the needs of hardworking Americans first. House Republicans are leading the way, and it’s time for the White House to get on board or get out of the way.
