Pence quipped that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who took two months of “maternity leave” during a nationwide airline crisis, was the “only person in human history to have a child, and everyone else gets postpartum depression.” The audience burst into laughter, and even co-host Joy Behar couldn’t hold back. However, Goldberg was not amused and scolded the audience for laughing.
Now, let’s not forget that this same joke was told by conservatives like Tucker Carlson and Lauren Boebert, but according to Goldberg, it was never funny. Interesting how the liberal narrative continues to change.
This incident occurred during the annual Gridiron Club Dinner in Washington, a gathering of politicians and press members. Speculation is mounting that Pence may seek the Republican nomination for the presidency while also being asked to testify against former President Donald Trump.
In a recent development, Trump has filed a motion in federal court to prevent Pence from testifying before a grand jury on election matters, citing “privileged” information. Pence, too, has vowed to fight the subpoena, arguing that his role as president of the Senate should protect him from legal scrutiny.
As the grand jury case continues, legal experts suggest that Trump may have caught a break in the Georgia election tampering investigation following the 2020 election.
