When asked if they would back President Biden in a second term the next cycle, prominent Democrats who are thought to be exploring a 2024 presidential run remained mute, fueling rumors that they will be launching their own campaigns.
To find out if they would formally back Biden should he seek reelection in 2024, Fox News Digital contacted 10 presumed Democratic presidential candidates.
Fox News Digital contacted Sen. Bernie Sanders, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
“Please include me; my support is fervent. I’m anticipating the call “Despite some Democrats having doubts about the president running again, Newsom said of Biden considering another four years in the White House.
“I’m prepared to participate and to present my case. In a time when those qualities are hard to come by, he is a man of integrity and decency. Neither Donald Trump nor Ron DeSantis exhibit it, in my opinion.”
The governor also denied suggestions that he would run for office again in the future. “I’m not leaning in that direction at all. It’s not right now, “he said.
Buttigieg, one of the top Democratic candidates for president in 2024, referred to a recent statement he made to Fox News Digital about the next election and his support for “everything the president is doing.”
Buttigieg stated that the president had made his intentions plain. “I can’t talk about campaigns and elections while I’m in this role, though,” he added. “Being a member of this team and fully supporting the president’s initiatives makes me extremely proud. We have a lot to show for it, and we’re only beginning.”
Although Biden hasn’t said whether he’ll run for a second term, the president’s chief of staff recently gave the impression that he will.
In a post-election press conference, Biden stated, “I think everyone wants me to run, but we’re going to have discussions about it. I’m hoping Jill and I can sneak away for a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I’m guessing we won’t decide until early in the next year.
No other Democrats have declared a bid for office in 2024.
