Democrat hypocrisy on full display with latest travel policy

It’s no surprise that the Democrats are once again flip-flopping on their stance regarding COVID-19 travel restrictions. Back in January 2020, then-candidate Joe Biden slammed President Trump’s decision to restrict travel from China, calling it “hysterical xenophobia and fear-mongering.”

But just weeks later, the Biden campaign did an about-face, claiming that Biden’s comments were not about travel policies and that “science supported” the restrictions on China.

Fast forward to today, and the White House has announced that it will require travelers from China to test negative for COVID-19 before arriving in the U.S.

This policy, which goes into effect on January 5, is necessary due to the lack of public data on China’s effectiveness in monitoring the virus. It’s worth noting that Japan and India have implemented similar restrictions, and China itself requires travelers from the U.S. to test negative.

So, what happened to Biden’s “wall will not stop the coronavirus” tweet from March 2020, when President Trump restricted travel from Europe? It seems that the Democrats’ position on travel restrictions is determined purely by political convenience, rather than a commitment to science or public health.

It’s clear that the Democrats are more concerned with scoring political points than they are with protecting the American people. President Trump’s decisive action in implementing travel restrictions early on in the pandemic likely saved countless lives, and it’s a shame to see the Democrats attack him for it at the time, only to turn around and follow his lead when it suits them.
