As federal prosecutors near the end of their fourth year of investigation into Hunter Biden, new details continue to emerge about the potential crimes committed by the president’s son. The probe, which began in 2018, has been driven in part by suspicious activity reports regarding foreign transactions from “China and other foreign nations.”
Despite this, Democrats and mainstream media outlets initially dismissed stories about the investigation as Russian disinformation. In fact, it wasn’t until 2022 that outlets like NBC News and CBS News finally acknowledged the legitimacy of the laptop belonging to Hunter Biden and the veracity of the records it contained.
Twitter, under the ownership of Elon Musk, has since released records about its decision to censor and limit the circulation of stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop, even though he had been under federal investigation for nearly two years. In December 2020, Hunter Biden confirmed that he was being investigated for his “tax affairs.”
As the investigation, led by Trump-appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, nears a critical stage, sources have told Fox News that federal investigators are considering charges for tax and foreign lobbying violations, false statements, and more. One possible charge stems from the possibility that Hunter Biden lied during a gun purchase in 2018.
At that time, a gun owned by Hunter was reportedly thrown into a trash can outside a market in Delaware. A firearm transaction report reveals that Hunter Biden answered “no” when asked if he was “an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance,” despite having been discharged from the Navy in 2014 for testing positive for cocaine.
The ongoing federal investigation has led to speculation about the involvement of President Joe Biden in his son’s alleged crony business dealings. Whistleblowers have claimed that the president was aware of and potentially involved in these dealings.
