House Republicans, including Sen. Chuck Grassley and the House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, have filed a subpoena seeking documents from the FBI related to an alleged bribery scandal involving President Biden during his time as vice president.
The subpoena was filed after an FBI whistleblower approached Grassley’s office regarding the reported interview. The whistleblower alleged that Biden and various members of his family benefited from foreign policy decisions he made throughout his career.
Both Grassley and Comer have been investigating the president’s business dealings for years, and the White House has long dismissed their allegations. Administration officials maintain that the president never spoke to his son, Hunter Biden, about his business dealings, and have continued to say that the president was never involved in them.
White House spokesman Ian Sams accused the pair of floating anonymous innuendo to distract and deflect from their own lack of solutions to the issues the American people actually care about.
The allegations against President Biden are serious, and the American people deserve to know the truth. It’s concerning that the FBI has not yet provided the documents requested by House Republicans, especially given the recent history of politically charged investigations being botched by the agency.
It’s important for Congress to exercise close oversight to ensure accountability for the American people. The White House’s dismissive response to the allegations is not sufficient, and the administration should be more transparent about the president’s business dealings.
