In a shocking display of hatred and violence, musician and Democrat activist Steven Van Zandt has called for the “genocide” of Republicans, referring to them as “cockroaches.” The Sopranos star shared the tweet prior to his performance with Bruce Springsteen in Long Island, New York.
This is yet another example of the left’s increasingly extreme rhetoric and their willingness to condone violence against those who hold different political beliefs.
Van Zandt’s tweet is particularly disturbing in light of recent political violence, including the attack on Republican lawmakers during a baseball practice in 2017 and the January 6th riot at the Capitol. It’s unacceptable for anyone, let alone a public figure, to call for violence against their fellow Americans based solely on their political beliefs.
We must condemn this type of rhetoric and hold those who engage in it accountable. This is not what America stands for, and we must do better.
